Ah, ha, ha, ha, stayin’ alive, stayin’ alive.

Hellllooooo fine folks, did you miss me?

My first semester of graduate school officially ended two weeks ago*, but I’ve been so busy catching up on life — including a visit from a VERY dear friend and spending time with my grandparents who flew into town on Saturday — that I’ve been just as inundated with life as I was with homework. Now that I finally, sort of, have a moment to breath, a post was absolutely necessary.

Of course, I’m going to take the easy way out and give you bullets as an update. Real posts should, optimistically, follow in the weeks ahead:

  • GPA = 4.0! Talk about unexpected. We were told Bs are common and not to become disgruntled when they litter our grade reports. But two As in the first semester? Wooot!
  • My nephew, Jaidyn, will be in town at the end of this week. I spoiled him BIG TIME for his birthday in November, and I think that trend will continue this Christmas. Aunt Mindy is awesome. It’s true.
  • There is nothing on TV. Every show I love and enjoy is on hiatus ’til mid- to late-January (just in time to be back in school, of course). Although there’s the occasional Christmas program to watch, my television is severely lacking quality entertainment.
  • I have yet to mail packages to Scranton … and it’s Tuesday. Christmas is a mere four days away. Shipping will cost me a FORTUNE, especially if I wait ’til tomorrow to mail them. I’m screwed. This is my punishment for procrastination.
  • I am unbelievably excited about the gift I bought my boyfriend. I’d let you know what it is, but there’s a very, VERY slim chance he’ll read this (and by slim I mean no bigger than a sliver, but I cannot risk it) and I will not spoil the surprise. Either way, I’m eagerly anticipating Christmas.
  • My obsession with the movie “Avatar” is hard to explain, but quite immense. Now that it’s on HBO, I’ve seen it numerous times — in addition to seeing it in theaters and renting it on DVD when it was released. Last week, I spent $40 on the Blu-Ray collector’s edition DVD and spent my Saturday afternoon immersed in Pandora. It was fabulous.
  • Only one day sits between me and a somewhat-brief Christmas weekend. For some insane reason, the restaurant decided to stay open for Christmas Eve and yours truly is forced to serve steak-eaters from 6-11 p.m. Not entirely thrilled, but at least my family plans to come eat there that evening. Otherwise, I have a four-day weekend. But can I truly consider it a four-day weekend if there’s a five-hour waitressing shift in the middle? Eh, I’m not sure…
  • NO SCHOOL ‘TIL JANUARY 10!

Oh, and I’m out of time … and honestly, if I don’t post this now, I’ll yet again forget and it’ll be another week before I utter a single word on my dusty blog. Happy Holidays everyone!

* And I started this post more than one week ago and kept having to change the timeline here before I could finally post it!
