So what’s going on in this noggin’ of mine these days? Well, let’s move to the bullet points…
- Christmas decorations and gifts started lining shelves MORE THAN A WEEK before Halloween. What gives? It’s one thing to overshadow Thanksgiving a bit with holiday-shopping specials left and right plus the emergence of the red and green mid-November. But before the end of October seems a bit much. Skulls and crossbones weren’t even on sale yet, but just above them at both a Charlotte Walgreens and a Davidson (town I live in) Harris Teeter were Santas, reindeer and strings of lights. Then just as election advertisements disappeared Tuesday night, I saw my first Christmas commercial. TOO SOON!!!
- Headaches… I haven’t updated about these in a while, and hopefully there will be some real news soon. I didn’t have insurance for a brief period of time as I transitioned jobs. Now that my new insurance is valid, it’s time for another doctor’s appointment … and perhaps a trip to the neurologist. Boo hiss.
- Have you seen “Pick the Perp”? It’s a website that provides a five-person lineup as well as some sort of criminal charge and asks you to guess which perp was arrested for the crime. Kind of addicting!
- Graduate classes, at least thus far, don’t have many formal assignments, so I’ve been a bit stuck as I can only wonder at my progress more than halfway through this first semester. So far, all seems to be going well though. It seems my tremendous worry about not being able to keep up or get back into the swing of things was a bit premature. I’m actually LOVING school. And yes, I am a nerd, but you should have known that already.
- Later this evening I am flying back to Scranton. Wooooohooooo! (Which reminds me, there will be two posts today. My reason for traveling home requires its own post. Sorry.) However, this also means leaving my puppy at home with the boyfriend, who will no doubt move his giant computer into the living room to play video games on the 55-inch TV all weekend. Ah, to be a fly on the wall…
- For a solid month, I was dead set on buying a new car. I formally visited the Honda dealership twice and the Nissan dealership once, not to mention a few visits here and there to other places. But after some serious thinking — and advice from two work friends — I have temporarily halted my search. As amazing as it would be to be rockin’ a new set of wheels, I’m optimistically hoping to re-evaluate this purchase in January once car prices on 2011s decrease a bit. We’ll see what happens.
- I’m slightly obsessed with fantasy football. Someone remind me that this deserves its own far-too-long posting explanation…
- Sophie’s birthday is coming up in December and I’m already searching for a puppy cake or gift for her… Too early? As bad as Christmas? Uh oh. (Check the photo caption for another Sophie update!)
C’est tout, mes amis! ‘Til next time.
