I’m not exactly breaking news as I say this, but California’s PROPOSITION 8 HAS BEEN OVERTURNED!!
Now, this doesn’t exactly make gay marriage legal throughout this West Coast gem. But it’s a step in the right direction and certainly a milestone that proves how completely unconstitutional it is to define “traditional” marriage as the only true form.
An appeal against this ruling is, of course, expected. Hopefully though, it will also meet the same fate that Prop 8 just has.
This fabulous triumph for homosexual Californians and the nation in general is certainly worth celebrating! Moments such as these prove that love does indeed conquer all. And if you’re looking for something visual to mark this occasion, I recommend traveling over to the blog of Ms. Gingham (whom I discovered today) for her gay-cake-topper tribute to the downfall of Prop 8. Once I saw her posting, I knew there was no better way to observe this legislative knockout.

I was happy to hear that Prop 8 has been overturned! Now that we live in the 21st century, you’d think that people would be less conservative and more accepting. It’s about time we’ve reached this milestone.
The gay-cake-topper in Ms. Gingham’s blog are neat! I couldn’t help but laugh at the last one, too. It was too cute!

Seriously, I squealed when I heard the news that it had been overturned. We’ve got a ways to go, but you’re right: this is definitely a step in the right direction!
Also? Those cake toppers are fabulous.
