Helllllooooooooo!
If you’re reading this right now, you were adventurous enough to journey over to my new domain – Behind the Byline – and for that, I thank you very much!
Leaving “A MinD in MoTown” behind wasn’t an easy decision, to say the least. Not only was there a monetary risk involved, but it meant ending a two-year run on a little piece of the Internet that felt like home. For months, many months, I contemplated what to do. Save my hard-earned dollars and remain the MoTown gal, or fork over the cash and take on the challenge of starting fresh at my own .com?
Come March, I moved out of Mooresville to a new home in an adjacent town. I was no longer a MoTown resident, and although I realized the conundrum that presented when it came to my blog, it phased me little ’til one brief comment from a fellow blogger made me realize that my 10-mile move out of MoTown was the perfect opportunity to make the big change to a new site.
But if I wasn’t a mind (or a Mindy, depending on how you read the title) in MoTown, who was I? Thus presented a new challenge on my path to a domain.
As the lovely LiLu – without whom this blog would be nothing, so MAJOR KUDOS go to her outstanding design skills! – settled in to begin work on the layout, I had to decide what blog identity would become my own. By then, dozens of ideas swirled through my brain, especially with the help of some fabulous folks, but I kept going back to the same one. It was then that I realized there was a reason for my repetitive return to that one title. Finally, in mid-April, Behind the Byline was registered and work began to get her launched.
With all the dots in place, the badges displayed and the “MoTown” archives uploaded, the final touches were added this Memorial Day weekend and here it is… Behind the Byline.
As a newspaper reporter – for now anyway – I figured this title fit to a tee. I’m a chick with opinions, many of them, and I’m not afraid to share each and every one. However, when it comes to the news business, my personal thoughts count for zip. But here, I can spill my ideas and criticisms onto the page, giving readers a glimpse of the girl behind the Tribune byline. I like to think I’m much more than someone who writes the news, and this blog – as well as the last one – provides that outlet I desperately need when it comes to sounding off about the many issues in our society and my own personal triumphs, tribulations, escapades and exploits.
You’ll find the exact same author as ever writing these words, but hopefully doing so more regularly. After all, with these pretty digs, I’m bound to find something interesting to say from time to time. I am hoping to start a new daily feature for a year – a picture feature – but more details on that some other time. For now, dig through the archives if you’re new or settle in as the postings start to roll out. Thanks to everyone for the amazingly kind words you’ve all offered as I dive into this venture.
…Also, all monetary donations toward continued hosting in the years to come are welcome. I don’t expect any, but hey, a girl can dream.

Congrats! I always love to see fellow bloggers going out on their own since I’m so glad I did that myself 1 1/2 years ago. It’s so pretty!

First off, I love that you used a school budget article. Those meetings have to be the most boring thing on earth. And secondly, no matter where you physically move, or e-move, I’ll be sure to visit once in awhile.
