Apparently, I'm "it."

by Mindy on October 21, 2008

Despite my best efforts to shy away from “meme” (What the hell does that stand for? something other than “me me,” I hope.) blogs, I have been tagged by the one, the only Kendall, and considering I’ve been highly lacking inspiration lately, I may as well jump on the bandwagon.

Here are the Rules:

1. Link to the person that tagged you
2. Post the rules on your blog
3. Share six non-important things/habits/quirks about yourself
4. Tag six random people at the end of your post by linking to their blogs
5. Let each random person know they have been tagged by leaving a comment on their website.

…Okay, I won’t lie, the chances of rule #5 happening are fairly slim, but with both #1 and #2 out of the way, let’s move on to my quirky self:

  1. I was named after a 1985 character on “Guiding Light” (yes, the soap opera). Word on the street is she was a complete bitch. Oh, and my parents randomly chose this name because they simply couldn’t agree on anything either of them actually liked, i.e. Kristina/Krissy or Victoria/Vicki. Personally, I’m glad they equally disliked, thus chose, Melinda…
  2. I have a few OCD tendencies, such as putting my socks and shoes on in this order: left sock, right sock, right shoe, left shoe. If I don’t do them, I feel a little off all day long. Boo hiss.
  3. The movie “Swordfish” is, indeed, amazing – but will always rank in my favorites due to one simple scene … when Hugh Jackman’s character is being … orally pleased (hey, this is a family show here!). His face is priceless.
  4. While I am, generally, a picky eater, I avoid several foods because of texture issues I have with them. Things like seafood (lobster and shrimp might taste decent, but there’s a horrible airyness – is that a word? – to them), nuts, onions, peppers, all make me gag simply ’cause they feel awkward in my mouth. (That’s what she said.)
  5. I call orange juice “OJ Simpson.” I did it nearly a decade ago, when I was around 13 years old, because I thought it was funny. And now, it’s weezled itself into my everyday vernacular.

I shall now pass along the torch to Andy, Lauren, Ben, Maxie, Chris and EP.

There are certain phrases that I’ve made up and can’t seem to shake too… it’s awkward when I do them in front of strangers. LOL

Glad my meme has gotten you off your lazy tush. Just kidding.

I have never seen Swordfish, never really felt compelled to.

“They feel awkward in my mouth.” This statement sent me into hysterics at work.

And a meme is an idea that spreads quickly through. Like me saying your site needs moar mudkipz. Yes, that is typed correctly. Google it.

I’m a picky eater for the same reason. I have texture issues with jello (goodbye, jello shots), applesauce (sometimes) and other semi-gelatinous foods. Those don’t jive for me.

Thanks for the tag! I’ll get this done sometime later this week.

I am a picky eater too and I’ve recently realized that most of the food I don’t like is due to its texture not its taste.

Maxie: I know what you mean!

Kendall: Swordfish is great. Watch it! NOW! No seriously, right now. Are you watching yet? By the way, looked up “moar mudkipz” and got porn … while at work. Not kewl (yes, that’s how I spell it).

Nerd: That’s what I was hoping for!

Stylish: Jello? Interesting. I could see that though.

Meg: I guess texture is a more common issue than I figured…
